PET Scans May Help Detect Alzheimer's Brain Plaques (HealthDay)

HealthDay - TUESDAY, Aug. 12 (HealthDay News) -- PET scans may providedoctors with a non-invasive method of detecting Alzheimer'sdisease-related brain plaques, Finnish researchers say.

Chitosan is a new fat reducing supplement on the market. purchase l-carnitine works by binding with fat in the body and excreting it through the stool. How is this possible?

In fact, chitosan is actually a fiber made from the shells of sea creatures such as shrimp, crabs and lobster. The shells are ground into a powder and the powder is stripped of specific chemical groups. This coenzyme q10 the substance able to "soak up fat." Surprisingly, it began as a chemical that was simply used to detoxify water by soaking up oils or other pollutants. This resulting "scum" was then removed.

Along the way, someone got the bright idea that this might be a great fat loss supplement, and modified it so that it could be a weight-loss product.

Although there are no significant studies as yet that chitosan actually works the way it is purported to as a fat loss supplement, its place among healing products is present because it basically lets bodybuilders eat high-fat foods and then simply excrete a lot of the fat content out through their stools. Significantly, this may work among fat reducing supplements because it allows one to eat more fat but not absorb it. One of the concerns with this is that it also makes one excrete a fair amount of nutrients along with the fat, so that you can become nutrient depleted.

One reason it may be among healing products is that it contains quite a bit of fiber. This fiber is of the soluble kind, which in turn may help reduce cholesterol; because bodybuilders often consume a lot of animal products to get the protein they need for their workouts, this in turn may help them reduce cholesterol content in their diets while still maintaining regular eating habits.

As a healthful addition to the diet, it's probably okay to include moderate amounts of chitosan as a natural fat reducing supplement. However, be careful not to take so much that you are also excreting a lot of your nutritional value. This, of course, can only hurt you in your workouts, because you won't have the nutrition to build the muscle that you want to. In addition come your energy may also suffer, which will further impede your workouts.

One thing to watch out for if you take too much chitosan is that you will have very loose stools and a lot of diarrhea. Not only is this uncomfortable and inconvenient, but it can also be dangerous and unhealthy. As with all things (and bulk l-carnitine until we know more about chitosan's benefits and cautions), moderation is key.

Even if you take chitosan, you must still take care that your diet is nutritional and adequate to support your bodybuilding workouts. Make sure it includes enough protein, fat, and complex carbohydrate to give you the energy you need. A good multivitamin supplement is also probably advised, especially because chitosan, as a fat reducing supplement, may take nutrients out of the body along with the fat it removes.
